Somewhat Impressed by WP Compress

First off, I love the UI! It’s very easy to navigate and simple to turn things on and off. I really like the ability to add a CNAME for the CDN aspect too.

I’m giving this 5 tacos because if you have nothing else, this is a good option for optimizing your site’s images. However, I’m not totally sold…

Since I switched from Imagify to ShortPixel to WP Compress, I’ve seen no noticeable difference in my site’s performance. Plus, some of the images look a bit more blurry with the medium setting on WP Compress. I’m hoping this is just a bug or perhaps I messed up a setting somewhere.

I’m still working on improving my speed with this plugin. If I can find a way, then I’ll be switching to it permanently and recommending my clients do the same!

I’m using WP Compress on several WordPress websites, which all use Elementor, different plugins from Crocoblock and partly also dynamic.ooo.

It works.
I have optimized everything except JS (so images + CSS), because it shot me something here.

As a caching plugin I use WP Fastest Cache (again without CSS and JS optimization), which is after some attempts with other plugins the most stable in conjunction with WP Compress.

I have WP Compress installed on 7 sites – all without problems and greatly accelerated.

CDN via own subdomain works fine, also on various directories (extra WP installation) on the same domain.

All in all I am very satisfied and will switch from Tier 2 to Tier 3 (because of the white label).

I had a concern about some use cases where forms with a lot of images may constantly consume credits and also wanted to deliver non-images in live mode after processing the images. This way it would cut back on credit usage during live mode and put less strain on everyone, especially if you operate sites with a lot of photos and just want to optimize once and rely on the speed for delivering CSS, JS, etc. The roadmap looks bright and I am happy to be enjoying such good speeds at a one-time price.

Finally something that works (straight out of the gate)

On the back of the first 48 hours using WpCompress, I felt that I needed to leave my first review on Appsumo.

The truth is over the last 6 months, I think I’ve tried nearly every “optimisation” plugin and platform on the market. The problem is, none seemed to work out of the gate without needing a degree from NASA – meaning most didn’t stay activated past the first hour.
